How To Redeem SingapoRediscovers Vouchers When It Rolls Out In Dec

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) announced in September that Singaporeans aged 18 and over would each receive SingaporeDiscovers digital Singapore $ 100 vouchers.

The government has set aside S $ 320 million for the vouchers, which aim to boost the struggling local tourism industry.

These vouchers will be accessible via SingPass from December and can be used to offset ticket purchases and hotel stays until the end of June next year.

However, there have been lingering concerns about redeeming these vouchers for those who are not as tech savvy to use SingPass, such as senior citizens.

Help for seniors who are not tech savvy

Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan announced to Parliament yesterday (November 4) that arrangements will be made to help the elderly and other Singaporeans redeem and use their vouchers.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is working with the People’s Association (AP) to set up reservation desks in community centers. Each Housing Council town will have at least one, and up to 66 meters will be installed across the island.

Ambassadors will be deployed at these physical contact points to assist them with making redemptions and purchases.

The booking platforms for the vouchers – Klook Travel Technology, UOB Travel Planners, Changi Travel Services and GlobalTix – will also set up physical counters to help seniors.

STB will also set up a hotline to handle inquiries from the public.

“To help older people who are left alone or who have little social support to use their vouchers, STB will consider working with social service organizations and PAs to facilitate the use of vouchers, for example by organizing small visits. groups for the elderly where permitted, ”Tan said.

He also urged all Singaporeans to create a SingPass account if they don’t already have one.

He estimated that “SingPass will provide secure authentication for the distribution of vouchers and help mitigate fraud.”
