UPDATE
12:17 p.m. — A Chrysler representative told TMZ… “We do not comment on pending litigation. We intend to vigorously defend our product against these claims.”
Harvey Weinstein blames Chrysler for being relegated to a walker in recent years… suing the automaker for what it says is a shoddy brake system in a new lawsuit.
The disgraced film producer has just filed a lawsuit against the automaker, claiming that in August 2019… he was involved in a nasty wreck near Bedford, NY while riding in one of their Jeeps – which he says the company provided so he could make an appearance in one of his films he was working on at the time. We don’t know what movie it was.
Anyway, according to the documents – obtained by TMZ – Weinstein says he was driving the Jeep when he had to swerve to avoid hitting a deer in the road. Weinstein claims that when he tried to miss the deer, the braking system dropped him… and sent the car rolling.
Weinstein says he was wearing his seatbelt but still suffered serious injuries and was “paralyzed” as a result of the crash.
BACKGROUND GRID
We were told in late 2019 – before HW went to trial, and was finally condemned – that the reason he was now in a walker and needed back surgery was because of a car accident he had in the summer…and now we know exactly what that incident is .
Weinstein has been accused of playing sick and frail for the cameras – but from his costume here he’s anything but… the man insists he became that way directly because of the flaws in the Jeep. So now…he’s suing and wants at least $5 million in damages.
