Gushcloud Strengthens Esports Presence With DIVINITY Buyout
Singapore-based Gushcloud International announced today (March 18) that it has acquired contracts from esports talent company DIVINITY as part of its strategy to solidify its presence in the esports industry.
Previously, Gushcloud International invested in Japan-based esports management agency Relation X.
As part of this acquisition transaction, Gushcloud will become the majority shareholder of DIVINITY, which will be renamed ALMGHTY.
ALMGHTY will consist of 22 mobile players who will play for titles like Call of Duty Mobile, Mobile Legends Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile and Free Fire, as well as more than 20 content creators like YouTuber Zxuan, Facebook streamer Cheriwaza and shoutcaster Reirachu. .
What does this acquisition mean?
Gushcloud International is a global talent, marketing and entertainment group. The 300-strong company has three units comprising agencies, studios and entertainment, with offices in 11 countries.
Following the acquisition, Gushcloud will work closely with ALMGHTY co-founder Billy Soo, “Sky Wee” Wee Yao Liang and Jeffrey “JEFF TV” Tan, to make ALMGHTY a regional lifestyle brand and an organization of games.
Gushcloud anticipates robust revenue potential not only from esports, but also from the business and social aspects of games and content.
The company will add all of the game’s athletes and talents to its exclusive representation roster, and will revamp an area within its existing HQ complex dedicated to esports training and game content creation.
This is in line with plans to launch a games-centric YouTube channel in the second half of 2021 and penetrate key markets such as Indonesia and the Philippines.
Mobile gaming fuels the growth of esports
According to a data report from Mordor Intelligence, the Southeast Asian gaming market is expected to register a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.5% over the next five years.
He cited the growing popularity of players in various sports and the growing investment in internet infrastructure as the main factors that will provide immense growth opportunities in the market.
The report also states that the total user base of mobile gamers will grow to 250 million by this year. In 2019 alone, Southeast Asia generated $ 4.4 billion in gaming revenue, up 16% year-over-year.
Mobile accounted for $ 3.1 billion of 2019 revenue – just over 70% of the market – and that number is expected to grow further.
