Gourmet-Style Roadside Stall Run By M’sian Accountant

A self-proclaimed burger addict, Amran Husni drove through the middle of the night looking for good, delicious burgers.

During the AGC, the income of his company, Phenomedic Hayacare Sdn Bhd (PHSB) which he created with his sister, was significantly affected.

As CFO, he needed to cut expenses in order to support the business.

One of them was his own salary.

“So to release my stress and keep me sane, cooking was my escape,” he shared.

It is this form of liberation that created TPC Burger.

It only took one photo

Influenced by his mother as a young boy, Amran was already able to cook nasi goreng on his own at the age of 7.

“I always found time to cook or cook for my family. I also used to sell cookies and cakes a few years ago to occupy my free time, ”he says.

While locked up at home, he tried to make a burger from scratch with his own recipe. Proud of his masterpiece, he posted a photo of it on Facebook.

Friends and family started asking for deliveries of the burger and even offered to pay for it too, much to his surprise.

“They kept asking for more and were ready to repeat orders. My wife and I had difficulty sourcing raw materials, especially the beef patty due to AGC, ”he said.

That’s where the name TPC comes from, he said. Informally meaning, “Tak Pernah Cukup”, which translates to “never enough”.

Word of mouth quickly spread thanks to his friends sharing pictures of the burgers online.

More and more people have started to try his homemade gourmet burgers as well.

He eventually appointed horsemen from Grab and Lalamove to deliver orders from his home to Shah Alam, Selangor.

The response was so overwhelming that orders were even delivered to Nilai and Seremban.

On average, he sold up to 40 burgers each day in his home kitchen.

This strong customer demand gave him the confidence to start his own TPC Burger stand.

I want TPC Burger to be like a Ramly Burger but with a gourmet style and taste. These days gourmet burgers operate on the brick and mortar concept, this requires huge capital and will result in a higher price. I want to keep it as affordable as possible and at the same time you can still enjoy a good gourmet burger.

Make it worthy of the name

“After the CMCO, I decided to open a booth because the demand kept increasing and my kitchen at home could no longer cope with it,” he said.

When he finally sided around 10,000 RM to start the stand, sales were less than 300 RM per day.

“Even though your food is super delicious, if there isn’t the proper display, I don’t think people would be interested in buying it,” he said.

To overcome this, Amran paid a food blogger to share his burgers on social media.

“I also improved the look of my burger by wrapping it half open and vertically, so it’s more instaragamable,” he says.

This form of presentation has attracted more people to share it online. He cited the black burgers from myBurgerlab as an example of his inspiration.

From this exhibit, he was able to sell 200 burgers per night, within 4 hours (7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) that the stall is open Thursday through Sunday.

Amran runs the stand with his wife where they do most of the preparation during the day, starting at 6 a.m.

When the booth begins operations at 7 p.m., he hires family and friends who need extra income to help him serve customers.

The entrepreneur said he was blocking Monday through Wednesday to devote his time as an accountant at PHSB.

But the rest of her week is focused on TPC Burger where it’s a full day of work that ends at 1am after cleaning.

“If the PHSB needs my attention from Thursday to Sunday, I will find time to settle remotely and I will try to delegate as much as possible to my staff,” he added.

It’s a tough and demanding passion project, but it’s worth it for this burger addict who is already planning to launch promotions and loyalty programs for his burgers.

Asked what keeps him going, he said, “It’s definitely because of the passion and satisfaction of seeing people enjoy your burgers and come back for more.

To stand out from other gourmet burgers on the market, Amran said he wanted to create more unique burgers.
