‘Gorilla Glue Girl’ sticks it to us with more chatter about her hair fiasco – only now she does it with a beat, and she recorded it … notably without the help of Nicki Minaj.
Tessica Brown releases her own track, remixing clips from her original viral video TikTok, with additional lyrics that she raps. It’s called “Ma Hair”, and we’re told it’s due out on Friday.
TB director, Gina Rodriguez, says Tessica recorded it in Hollywood last month, and the track was composed by an independent music producer / engineer. Phil Valley. Apparently Tessica wrote this jam on her own … and this is her first time rapping.
As for * why * she takes us all back to February – when this all sad incident fell for the first time – well, we were told that Tessica just wanted her voice back for her own purposes and thought that would be a good way to do it.
As you may know (and may have heard) … there have been a lot of remixes made over the past few months that feature audio from Tess’ OG clip – but she hasn’t licensed any d ‘between them.
Here’s the trigger for it all… Tessica and her team actually contacted Nicki Minaj’s camp in hopes of putting her on the trail. Of course, NM shouted ‘Gorilla Glue Girl’ in his recent song, “Fractions”.
After the fall of the name, that GGG and co. loved, they thought maybe Nicki was collaborating… but Rodriguez says they never heard from her.
It’s all right … Tessica is ready to brave the world of solo music, and “Ma Hair” will be airing everywhere by this weekend.
