Girls Who Needed Taco Bell Wi-Fi Will Use GoFundMe Money Wisely
Little girls who had to use a Taco Bell’s Wi-Fi for school have received thousands of dollars in donations – money that will be put to good use … TMZ has learned.
Jackie Lopez, the woman who runs the GoFundMe family fundraising page in the viral photo, has raised over $ 142,000 so far … and a good chunk of that will go towards children’s education.
Lopez says the girls’ mom Juana, plans to set up a college fund for her three children – two of whom were seen sitting outside a Taco Bell with their laptops and notebooks. The third child is only one year old, but Juana is focusing on the long game.
Juana also wants to use some of the money for her children’s therapy. She says the family is homeless and it probably had an effect on the kids, so she wants her daughters to talk to a professional.
Juana is now looking to buy a mobile home in Salinas. On top of that, Lopez says Juana will improve on the ice cream cart she uses for her job … one of the many things she does for a living.
You will remember … the photo of Juana’s two daughters made a lot of noise. Elected officials said it was emblematic of the digital divide in minority communities, and clearly people were worried.
Now people know their contributions will go to a cause that will change their lives.
