Gennady “GGG” Golovkin has no intention of hanging up his boxing gloves after his trilogy fight with Canelo Alvarez … narrative TMZ Sports he is “not yet ready” to retire.
In fact, the star pugilist said he would be ready to fight Alvarez for the fourth time!
The news is somewhat surprising – most thought the 40-year-old would call it a career after facing Canelo in September for the third time since 2017.
And, look at the clip, you can tell Golovkin definitely thought about it. But, he says he still has more gas left in his tank despite having fought in 44 professional fights in his career.
“Not yet,” GGG tells us of the retirement. “I’m not ready yet.”
As for why he came back to the ring to face Canelo for the fourth time instead of calling it a career… he said the choice was very simple.
“The business side,” he said, “is very interesting.”
For now, the 42-1-1 boxer says he’s glad his fans want to see him back in the ring with the Mexican boxer – and he tells us he’s going for a knockout in the match.
The fight takes place on September 17 on DAZN… get the popcorn ready.
