Fred Savage Missing ‘Princess Bride’ Reunion Unrelated to Politics
The cast of “The Princess Bride” practically met on Sunday night, but Fred savageZoom’s face was conspicuously absent from the Zoom call, leaving fans wondering if the policy was on … but TMZ learned that was just inconceivable.
Sources close to the actor – who played The Grandson in the ’80s cult classic – tell us he was aware of Zoom’s reunion but was unable to attend because he was celebrating his young brother. Ben‘the birthday of.
Fred’s absence quickly sparked speculation that he did not participate because he believed he was a Republican – although he never said so publicly – and the virtual table reading took was planned by the movie star, Cary Elwes, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Democratic Party.
We’re told that’s not the case at all, as Fred has done things with the cast before and has no issues – political or otherwise – with anyone. In fact, Savage was a part of Quibi’s recent reunion and also reprized his role for the ‘Once Upon a Deadpool’ trailer at the end of 2018.
Our sources Fred say he had other plans and was more or less told … as you wish. He posted some cute pictures of brother and Ben and said: “While I am always proud to be part of the Princess Bride family, sometimes real family life comes first.”
For those who missed it, the “ Princess Bride ” virtual reunion drew around 100,000 viewers as the main cast – Elwes, Mandy patinkin, Robin wright and director Rob reiner – read the film script.
“Stranger Things” star Finn wolfhard stepped in for Savage as Grandson, Josh gad read for the late André the Giant, and Reiner played the role of the deceased Peter Falkthe character of grandfather.
The meeting also included appearances by Whoopi goldberg and Eric Idle, and other cast members like Christopher Guest, Chris Sarandon, Wallace shawn, Billy crystal and Carol Kane.
Now … does anyone want peanuts?
