Plans to introduce Texas bill preventing children from attending drag shows sparks debate – but ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star Alyssa Edwards says the move and the timing of it make her embarrassed about her original state.
Alyssa makes it clear – the new bill is frustrating and will cause a setback for young children. She says decisions like this should be left to the sole discretion of a parent.
My minds:
1) Our God is a God of Love.
2) Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher/role model.
3) Drag is a subjective art form.
4) You sir tweeted more about #slide that the loss to #Uvalde. Is it really about children or politics? #Priorities pic.twitter.com/lawP6pJMek— Alyssa Edwards (@AlyssaEdwards_1) June 7, 2022

She called State Rep. Bryan Slaton – who said he planned to introduce the bill – for showing more interest in drag bars than figuring out how to keep schoolchildren safe in the wake of the shooting of Uvalde.
Rep. Slaton says he is filing the potential legislation after recent footage went viral of children attending a drag show in Dallas.
It didn’t happen in California.
It didn’t happen in Portland, Oregon.
It happened here in the state of Texas.
The question: what are the “Republican” leaders of our state going to do about it?

Last year, Alyssa appeared on the 16th season of “America’s Got Talent” with members of her Beyond Belief Dance Company and made it to the semi-finals. Additionally, the Netflix docuseries “Dancing Queen” followed Alyssa and her dance students to Mesquite, Texas.
Alyssa is currently on her “Life, Love & Lashes” tour, but that doesn’t stop her from fighting for what she thinks is right.
