Dr Oz could hang up his TV stethoscope and take a seat on Capitol Hill – the legendary daytime talk show host is considering a candidacy for the US Senate … confirmed TMZ.
Sources connected to DO tell us … while it is still early and nothing is official yet, the Doc is indeed seriously considering getting into the race for the mid-sessions of next year – and he has her home state of Pennsylvania in her sights.
BTW, these aren’t just fancy political musings… we’re told Oz is serious enough about this and is exploring what an effort of this nature would take to launch a campaign. We are told that if he runs, he will do so as a Republican.
It certainly sounds like something that could become a reality, which, if it did … it would seriously upend the US Senate elections next November, especially in PA.
The two current incumbents currently serving the Keystone State – Republican Patrick Toomey and democrat Robert Casey Jr. … whose first will not appear again, and whose seat is up for grabs.
There are already a number of announced candidates for the GOP who have thrown their hats in the ring – and of course, there are also several Dem contenders who are here to win it.
IF Dr. Oz steps into the fray… it would add to the already packed field – but given that he would be by far the most famous (and perhaps the most beloved), he would stand a chance of winning. On the other hand, if Oz got into politics… there was no doubt his show would end.
A ‘Dr. The Oz rep tells us … yeah, he has a deep connection to Pennsylvania. However, “Dr. Oz has received encouragement to run for the US Senate, but is currently focused on our show and has no announcements at this time.”
