Donald trump apparently defended the insurgents on Capitol Hill who wanted to hang the then vice president Mike pence, claiming that they were understandably angry.
Trump did an interview with ABC Jonathan karl, who asked 45 if he was concerned for the safety of the Veep on Jan.6. Trump pooped over the idea that Pence was in danger, saying “I thought he was well protected and I had heard he was in good shape.”
This did not satisfy Karl, who noted how terrible the rioter ‘s conduct was, to which Trump said: “Well people were very angry.” Karl fired back, “They were like, ‘Hang Mike Pence.'”
Trump then went on to defend the crowd by saying, ‘Because it makes good sense, Jon. How can you – if you know a vote is fraudulent, right? How can you pass a fraudulent vote to Congress? How can you do this? “
So Trump is basically saying that Pence deserved the crowd’s wrath because he wouldn’t block the certification of the election.
The audio release comes amid a legal fight over the release of Trump from operations on Jan.6. Trump opposes disclosure to Congress, citing executive privilege. An appeals court has temporarily blocked the release – scheduled for Friday – so it can reconsider the case … and that should happen by the end of the month.
