Demi Lovato says they won’t go right by your throat if you accidentally cheat on them – because it’s not an easy pivot – but they ask people to make a good faith effort to move forward.
The pop singer – who identifies as non-binary – posted a new IG post that addresses the change so many people have tried to embrace by discussing it … namely to refrain from using his pronouns and refer to Demi like they / them – which is their preference.
Demi writes … “If you got the wrong gender – it doesn’t matter. I accidentally get the wrong gender sometimes! It’s a huge transition to change the pronouns I’ve used for myself all my life. And sometimes it’s hard to remember! “
They continue, “As long as you keep trying to respect my truth, and as long as I remember my truth, change will come naturally.” Demi ended on this note … “I’m just grateful for your efforts in trying to remember what matters so much to my healing process.”
You will remember … Demi is output as non-binary earlier this year, claiming that their new pronouns were more in line with how they wanted to express their gender than the ones they used before … allowing them to be their most authentic selves.
Of course, many have struggled with the change – not necessarily out of spite, but simply out of custom and grammar. Demi recognizes it and says it’s okay, but doesn’t forget it.
