Louis CK and Dave chappelle both nabbed names at the Grammys – despite their individual battles with “culture cancellation” – a signal perhaps that people’s “cancellation” is on the wane.
The Academy announced its picks on Tuesday … Louis received a name for Best Comedy Album and Chappelle for Best Spoken Word Album. Of course, Twitter was quick to react, especially a lot of people who have had it so far with CC.
One user wrote: “Louis CK just got nominated for a Grammy, in case people want to continue to hang on to the long term effects of crop cancellation. Another said: “Only one Grammy name each for Dave Chappelle, Kevin Hart and Louis CK !! Cancel the culture of strikes again !!”
It was in 2017 that Louis CK admitted to having expose oneself and masturbate in front of women or during telephone conversations. We got a glimpse that things were revolving around him when he got a standing ovation during a show in 2019 before COVID closed sites across the country.
As we have reported … Dave has also had his share of recent controversy – especially from some in the LGBTQ + community – after its most recent Netflix special, “The Closer” was almost entirely focused on transgender and gay people.
Clearly, the Academy is above controversy, and its members believed the work of the two comedians was enough to potentially earn them one of entertainment’s top honors.
