Darnella frazier, the teenager whose video George floyd being killed has gone viral, shaken by a death at the hands of the police once again – but this time it’s personal.
The teenager’s uncle – 40 years old Lénéal Frazier – was struck in his car by an oncoming Minneapolis Police Cruiser on Tuesday morning as cops pursued an armed robbery suspect … an impact that ended up killing him and seriously injuring him.
Leneal wasn’t involved in the chase at all – he was just heading towards his girlfriend’s house through what some say is a residential area. According to reports, the police car turned northbound, hitting Leneal at an intersection.
Darnella’s mother confirmed to local media that it was her brother who was killed – and Darnella herself took to FB to share the tragic news with a devastating message.
She writes: “Honestly I can’t believe I’m doing this post right now… I’m so hurt… nothing seems real. I woke up with the most horrible news. The MINNEAPOLIS police killed my uncle MON uncle … Another black man lost his life at the hands of the police! I asked my mother several times “is he dead ??” I could not accept what I heard and I cannot always not. “
Darnella went on to describe how she still dealt with Leneal’s death and how it was filled with sadness, also adding this… “The Minneapolis Police Department has cost my whole family a big loss… today was a day full of sorrow. . and sadness … It’s not fair that the police can just kill people. ” She also angrily wonders why the cops engaged in a high-speed chase on residential roads.
Of course, Darnella is famous for being one of the few who recorded Floyd’s murder under Derek chauvinknee last May. His now viral video was central to The condemnation of Chauvin, and has also earned him several commendations, including one Pulitzer people.
As we reported … watching Floyd’s death Emotionally Marked Darnella, so losing his uncle in another incident involving the police appears to be classic PTSD.
A state investigation is underway to recreate the crash.
