Connecticut State Capitol Overrun W/ Protesters After H.S. Football Cancelation
Hundreds of people flocked to the Connecticut state capital building on Wednesday, seriously pissed off by the cancellation of HS football … and the scene was WILD !!
Just days after the Connecticut Interschool Athletic Conference announced it was dangerous to play football amid the coronavirus pandemic this fall … nearly 1,000 players, coaches and parents stormed the government building in an attempt to set aside the decision.
Watch the video of the protest … it’s pretty intense – with everyone shouting “Let’s play!” in unison while holding placards, flags and even football helmets.
Some of the players interviewed on the scene expressed unhappiness at not being able to play this season … with a say WFSB, “I’m really crazy about it.”
Seems Gov. Ned Lamont is ready to at least listen to the arguments for reversing the decision … he said after the protest he was arranging a meeting with local officials to hear from both sides.
This summit will take place on Friday, Lamont said … before adding: “I want to see football played out and I also want to see it played in safety.”
Connecticut is far from the top of coronavirus hotspots in the United States … but it has recorded 53,871 cases since the start of the pandemic, with more than 4,000 deaths.
