It looks like people came to Coachella ready to party and break the law even more on the second go-around this year — because the cops put on a lot more handcuffs than Week 1.
Data from the second weekend is out… and according to Indian police, officers made a total of 133 arrests from Friday to Sunday – about 20 more busts than they had made the previous weekend… and a whopping 36% more than Weekend 2 in 2019.
Regarding the breakdown of alleged crimes, the IPD reports that 106 of these arrests were related to drugs, alcohol or intoxication, 17 of them were related to fake IDs, 5 were in possession of drugs for sale and 5 others were miscellaneous.
Their tickets given out were also higher on the 2nd weekend compared to the first – cops say they gave out 96 citations (compared to 72 last week)…and that number they say is 81% higher than what they distributed in 2019.
It seems like a lot of people were eager to get the disabled signs out…because the IPD says they gave out 91 citations for the illegal use of these. Four people were allegedly parked in handicapped stalls and 1 person was allegedly driving an unregistered vehicle into the desert…so police claim.
Like we said…the numbers are higher than they were week of 15so it looks like people have come looking to hang out with a bang seeing how Coachella won’t be back for a full year.
If that was their goal, they certainly succeeded.
