Christopher Reeve and Adam West return to don their respective capes in the movie “Flash” — that is, if you believe in potential leaks … that are setting DC’s internet ablaze.
Rumors lied this week about supposed cameos that Reeve and West – who, of course, are deceased – would feature in the new WB offering … which is now set to be released next summer after extensive redesigns. lately.
According to beloved movie leakers – some of whom have solid reputations for being aware of this comic book stuff – the word is… CR and AW are going to be featured in a scene where Barry Allen (The Flash) travels through different superhero universes.
Apparently you only see them briefly…and the Flash character doesn’t interact with them either, but rather…sees them in action in their own worlds/timelines.
The supposed cameos are said to be from old archived footage – so, no, they’re not creating all new content/dialogue/scenes with these deceased actors via deep fake CGI…or so it seems. Oh, and those aren’t the only DC OGs that apparently appear… Lynda Carter because Wonder Woman should also make an appearance in her prime – at least according to these folks.
Various cuts of the film have been shown a handful of times now – it’s in the box at this point – so take it all with a grain of salt… Warner could change things up significantly by 2023.
There’s also the question of what this movie and all of its implications could mean for the DCEU in the long run. Beyond Ezra Millerit is controversiesthere have been reports that the honchos at Discovery might want to overhaul the whole superhero strategy going forward now that they own it.
With all of that in mind…we wouldn’t recommend getting too excited about any plots, character teases, or the mixing and matching of universes that may come out of this movie when it’s released – that is, -say Michael Keatonretaliation, or a potential Cavill comeback, etc.
Looks like there’s no clear vision yet as the new Warner Bros. Discovery starts here… so some or all of that could be scrapped or restarted entirely – and it may all be for nothing.
But the prospect of seeing West and Reeve back in costume on the big screen… great!
