Cher Tries Volunteering at Malibu Post Offices, Gets Denied
Expensive tried to help her local post offices – but it seems even the goddess of pop can’t penetrate good old-fashioned bureaucratic hiring practices.
The singer tweeted on Wednesday that she recently tried to offer her services at a few post offices in Malibu – like volunteering, you know … since the agency ran out of money, manpower work and support these days under the Trump administration. Unfortunately, she was rejected.
Dear writes: “OK, I called 2 post offices in Malibu. They were polite. I said” Hi, this is Dear, and I would like to know if you ever take volunteers⁉️ “She continues,” Lady said she didn’t know and gave me the supervisor #. I called and said hello This is Dear Do U Accept volunteers. “
She says the manager answered “NO”. Apparently they need fingerprints and a background check, even for a volunteer. It makes sense, we guess … can’t take Joe off the streets. Again, it’s not Joe … it’s Cher! And she says she really wants to help.
That’s kind of where we’re at with the USPS these days – and all because Trump tried to dismantle the service from within … appointing one of his buddies to lead it, all in dismantling mailboxes and sorting machines across the country.
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has just turned around, saying he will put an end to any major changes in the postal service until after the election – to avoid the appearance of electoral tampering.
Good call. And, as far as Cher is concerned, getting her involved wouldn’t be such a bad idea either. She is known for her philanthropy – suffice to say.
Our sincere thanks to
