‘Cheer’ Star Jerry Harris Denied Bond, Will Be Jailed Until Trial
Jerry harris will remain in detention until he is tried in his child pornography case.
A federal judge has just denied the endorsement of the star of the popular Netflix documentary series “Cheer.” As we reported, Harris had a bail hearing Wednesday in Texas, where the judge heard arguments for and against his release ahead of his trial. The judge finally ruled on Friday, accepting the prosecution’s wish to keep him behind bars.
Prosecutors said they believed Harris could prey on minors if he was released on bail. They claimed he already had several minor victims and would likely return to the same alleged behavior. Remember … the feds claim it continue to target minors despite being informed of the federal investigation.
The judge cited the allegation in Friday’s ruling … saying Harris was consistent in his pursuit of the alleged victims and exhibited uncontrollable behavior.
Harris’s defense team told court he wouldn’t pose a threat or hurt people if he was released pending trial because he would not have Internet access and would have regular check-ups with a psychiatrist. The judge was reckless and said community support and a lack of criminal history were not enough to prove Harris was not a threat to the community.
Instead, the judge said that a lack of criminal history actually shows how easy it is for this type of alleged behavior to go undetected.
In addition to federal charges, 2 of Harris’ alleged victims pursued him.
