The LA mayoral race is officially a 2-horse competition between Rep. Karen Bass and Rick Carusoand Hollywood – like the rest of America – looks torn.
More and more celebrities have poured out traditional donations for Bass – including big-name names like Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston and Samuel L. Jacksonbut Caruso (who is a commercial real estate titan) seems to have more vocal support on social media.
That makes sense, because billionaire Caruso self-funded his campaign.

Here’s a breakdown as Tuesday’s election results continue to pour in.
Besides the names mentioned above, Congresswoman Bass has also secured cash contributions from people like Jennifer Garnier, JJ Abrams, Ken Jeong, Octavia Spencer, Sally Field and William H. Macy …all of which threw $1,500 each.
Another good reason to vote for Karen Bass for mayor of LA. Our family voted today. Californians, be sure to vote by tomorrow night! https://t.co/CFkbo7m8TD pic.twitter.com/fDdLnxuvP2

@John legend
Jane Fonda donated $1,200, Donald Glover contributed with $1,000, Rashida Jones another $1,000 and Helen Hunt promised $500. So, a fair amount of Hollywood dough.
While Caruso doesn’t have as many celebrity financial donors in his corner, his team tells us he’s received a huge outpouring of support online…which, arguably, is just as valuable.

Tweets for Caruso came from Kim K., Katy Perry, Elon Musk, Gwyneth Paltrow, Snoop Dogg and Kris Jenner — Just to name a few.
Bass isn’t left out on social media either…she’s got the support of Tiffany Haddish and john legendwho openly called on Angelenos to support her in the voting booths.
It remains to be seen who might emerge victorious, but if the latest poll is to be believed… none of the candidates will get 50% of the vote in Tuesday’s primary – and that means they will have a runoff in November.
RICK CARUSO FTW❗️

@Katy Perry
BTW, Caruso – who had been a Republican all his life until recently – is coming off as a Dem, as is Bass. He has business expertise, but she has years of legislative experience in DC and Sacramento.
Get out and vote!
