Britney Grinerthe wife of Joe Biden to get more involved in the WNBA star’s case in Russia … hoping it will ultimately help bring home the love of his life.
Cherelle Griner asked the president during an interview with Robin Robert on “Good Morning America” this week … explaining that she thinks Biden could be the key to bringing Brittney back to American soil.
“I keep hearing he has the power,” Cherelle said of Biden. “She’s a political pawn – so if they’re holding her back because they want you to do something, then I want you to do it.”

Britney has been detained in Russia since mid-February … after authorities claimed to have found hash oil in his luggage.
Cherelle told Roberts that she first found out about all this through a panicked text from Brittney.
“She started texting me around 2 a.m. that morning,” Cherelle said. “‘Baby! Babe! Babe! Wake up! They’ve got me in this room, I don’t know what’s going on.'”
Cherelle said Brittney told her authorities were taking her phone and not texting her again – and she said that apart from written letters, she hasn’t been able to speak to Brittney since.
Cherelle said she has been in contact with the Secretary of State Antoine Blinken on ways to bring Brittney home … but she clearly thinks the US government can do more.
“I was grateful for their call,” she said of the conversation with Blinken. “You say she’s the top priority, but I want to see her. And I want to see her, that would be me seeing BG on American soil.”
Cherelle added being without Brittney – who should stay in custody in Russia until at least her next court hearing in June – was difficult … and she even broke down in tears during the interview with Roberts.
She did, however, explain that Brittney told her to stay strong.
“I’m fine because you have to be,” Cherelle said… adding, “I won’t come down until she’s back.”
