Britney Spears Conservatorship Unchanged After Court Hearing
Britney spears wants a change in her 12-year guardianship, but she didn’t get it in today’s hearing … because TMZ learned everything was status quo.
As we reported, Britney’s attorney filed legal documents asking to permanently replace her father, Jamie spears, as restorer of his person. She also wants a bank or other financial institution to run her business, with Jamie. Currently, Jamie is the sole curator of her business affairs.
Here’s the catch … some legal documents need to be filed before his issues go to a judge, and that hasn’t happened. Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Wednesday’s hearing was just a scheduled status conference and nothing has changed.
Our sources say Britney’s problem with this case is that there has been a statement that she is unable to make important decisions in her life due to her mental illness, so her wishes will be almost certainly tempered by the very fact that there is a guardianship.
Sources linked to Britney say she’s not doing well and hasn’t been on equal footing for over a year.
There have been a social media surge – and even the ACLU has joined in – in questioning the Guardianship and advocating its end, but many sources linked to the Guardianship say the doctors who have been caring for Britney for the past twelve years have said that guardianship was necessary for his safety and perhaps even his survival.
