Brian Laundromat died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the family’s lawyer.
TMZ spoke with Steve bertolino, who says both Laundrie’s parents were told the cause of death was suicide. He tells us that both parents still mourn the loss of their son and “hope these findings will bring a solution to both families.”
Of course, this news comes after the examination of Laundrie’s bones. by an anthropologist.
As we have reported, the laundry the body was found at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park by investigators, on the advice of his parents who suggested they search the same area again.
Remember, Brian’s remains were in such a state that a forensic scientist couldn’t easily determine exactly how he died – and this anthropological examination was commissioned to shed light on it. Part of his remains that were sufficiently intact were his teeth … that’s how they finally found out that it was, indeed, Brian – with correspondence of dental records.
This finally seems to end the book on this whole saga … at least partially, anyway. We now know exactly how Brian and Gabby Petito dead … of course, we still don’t know what happened in the middle – namely, who killed Gabby … and what was Brian’s role in that.
As we reported … Brian returned to Florida after a cross-country trip he had taken with his fiancee, but returned on his own – with Gabby in sight. Shortly after landing in North Port again and seeing his parents … Brian himself disappeared without a trace.
There was a nationwide manhunt for him that spanned weeks and weeks – with different potential sightings popping up all over the place.
As it turned out, the guy was literally in his own backyard (metaphorically) … and the FBI said the reason they didn’t find him sooner was because the area he ended up in was underwater for the majority of their initial research.
Many suspected that Brian’s parents may have helped him or not told the truth about what they knew – which they always denied – and as of yet, it’s unclear if charges will be brought against them.
