There is a new tribute to Betty Blanche in town, but this one isn’t just about honoring Betty… it’s about promoting the cause dearest to her heart.
Corie Mattie is responsible for the new mural that has been installed on the famous Melrose Ave. She says the piece took her about 15 hours and includes the mission statement … “Be More Like Betty.”
Even cooler is the fact that he has a way for you to do just that.
Corie added a QR code to the mural that fans can scan to donate directly to wagmorpets… an organization supporting dog rescues. She tells us that Betty “loved animals so I thought it would be a good idea if people wanted to pose in front of her, it will go straight to [the] non-profit.”
The artist came to think of the tribute as the perfect gift for Betty… who has donated and supported animal rescues for years. Corie’s mural fits perfectly with the movement Betty fans have started online with the #BettyWhiteChallenge.
The hashtag encourages people to donate to their local animal rescues and shelters.

As for the mural itself … Mattie told us that she believes Betty to be the epitome of a “perfect human” who was ahead of her time in promoting a more inclusive world. She says that’s why she included the phrase “Be More Like Betty”.
Great advice for all of us.
