Gaming lifestyle brand Razer recently announced the launch of its US $ 50 million Razer Green Fund.
The fund was created through zVentures with the aim of empowering and accelerating sustainability businesses, with a focus on the management of renewable energy, carbon and plastic.
The fund’s first investment went to award-winning sustainable products start-up, The Nurturing Co., which is best known for creating Bambooloo, one of the first brands of single-use, single-use toilet paper and household cleaning products without plastic, bamboo to the world.
Bambooloo’s mission is to create sustainable home care alternatives that are better for people and the planet. It is also the first brand to offer zero percent single-use, ready-to-use plastic packaging.

Prior to the Razer Fund, Bambooloo raised S $ 200,000 from a small group of investors in Singapore and the United States in 2019.
The idea for Bambooloo was conceived in early 2016 in the United States by Lara Amoroso, a single mother who wanted to take a stand against the tidal wave of single-use plastics.
She then teamed up with co-founder David Ward, and they launched Bambooloo together under The Nurturing Co. in Singapore at the end of 2018.
David, who is a veteran of the sustainable products market, shared the same vision as Lara and wanted to design and create products that better reflected consumers’ desires for sustainable products.
The humble roll of toilet paper as a flagship product
When Bambooloo launched, it started with just a roll of toilet paper, which is still the backbone of the brand, David said.
To this day, Bambooloo toilet paper rolls remain his bestseller. Its toilet paper rolls are made from 100% bamboo, which makes it completely biodegradable.
According to Bambooloo, bamboo products require 90% less water and 70% less carbon to produce than paper products made from wood pulp.
By simply switching to Bambooloo toilet paper, a family of four can save over 30,000 liters of water in a year. Plus, all Bambooloo packaging is free of single-use plastics and is made from recycled paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Now, the Bambooloo product line also includes bamboo paper towels, facial tissues and reusable natural fiber masks, helping consumers to further reduce their carbon, water and plastic footprint.
Its latest product launch is a 100% natural fiber NAT mask.
The NAT: Mask 3 + 1 Layer Reusable (non-surgical mask) is a lightweight and breathable reusable face mask made with a hybrid of three natural biodegradable materials: cotton, bamboo and silk.
Like most plastic waste, nearly 75% of used disposable masks end up in landfills or in the ocean. NAT: Mask aims to reduce the widespread use of plastic masks by producing a mask that is biodegradable and has high safety performance.
The outer layer is made from 100% cotton which is durable, breathable and great at filtering out particles. The middle layer is made from 100% silk, which is ideal for electrostatic filtering, while the inner layer is 100% bamboo, which is naturally hypoallergenic, antibacterial and antimicrobial.
According to David, the business is growing at an average rate of 250 percent over the past few years, with the brand constantly innovating to create new products.
David told Vulcan Post that whenever the company considers a new product, the team starts with the primary goal of reducing or eliminating as much single-use plastics as the design idea and solution d ‘packaging.
“There has to be a reason why the product should even exist, and we test the idea against market opportunity, scale, and consumer desires in that specific product space,” David said. .
After these three steps, the idea will then move on to sample and price modeling and packaging design, before production begins. Bambooloo works with pre-selected factory partners that they have visited and audited according to their own requirements.
A strong commitment to sustainable development
In addition to its sustainable products, The Nurturing Co. has also established partnerships with various organizations that defend the environment.
For example, in April this year, it partnered with Seven Clean Seas, an ocean cleaning organization fighting the plastic crisis, to reinforce the positive impact consumers have every time they buy. Bambooloo home care products.
As part of an initiative called Project Urgensea, Bambooloo has committed to removing one kilogram of plastic from the ocean for every 100 rolls sold.
The Nurturing Co. has also won various awards in the area of entrepreneurship and sustainability. It won the first prize for the best social enterprise in 2019 and the social impact award of the prize for the best Asian start-up in 2020.
