David Archuleta – one of the famous “American Idol” finalists throughout its history – has just come out as part of the LGBTQ + community … which, he explains, is particularly difficult given his religious education.
The former ‘AI’ – who placed second in the 7th season of ‘Idol’, losing to David Cook – just shared his truth online, posting a candid IG that revealed he identifies as both bisexual and asexual… although he says he initially thought he might be gay.
David writes: “I came out in 2014 as gay for my family. But I had similar feelings for both sexes, so maybe a spectrum of bisexuals. Then I also found out that I didn’t not too many sexual desires and cravings like most people. which works, I guess, because I am committed to saving myself until marriage. ” He goes on to explain that the asexual sometimes seems to describe him best… while adding that he does it to help other people who might be in similar situations.
Namely, DA says he wants people who are dedicated to their religion and who could also be gay, bi or whatever that they are not alone … as he explains that he is coming himself from a Mormon background. Basically David is saying that you can both be religious and identify as LGBTQ +.
He says, “[P]Consider making room to be more understanding and compassionate towards those who are LGBTQIA +, and those who are part of this community and who are trying to find that balance with their faith which is also a big part of their identity like me. , “I think we can do better as people of faith and Christians, including Latter-day Saints, to listen more to the struggle between being LGBTQIA + and a person of faith.”
Powerful words from the star singer-songwriter – and this comes at a particularly remarkable time … remember, June is Pride Month.
