A woman believed she had raised a serious safety issue while staying at an Airbnb, claiming the house had hidden cameras in its fire sprinklers… but the company is shutting down the allegation, even implicating the police to check things out.
The woman, who recently stayed at a Philadelphia rental property with a group of girlfriends, took to Twitter to say, “BE CAREFUL BOOKING AIR BNBs! My friend and I recently stayed at an air bnb in Philadelphia with over 10 hidden cameras all over the house. Including showers and bedrooms. Some were disguised as sprinkler systems, but there is a camera lens.”
She then posted a series of photos and videos from inside the house showing these alleged cameras.
We spoke to an Airbnb representative about the woman’s allegations, saying they take them very seriously, even involving the Philadelphia police.
The rep tells us that the lead detective, “confirmed that he found no hidden or undisclosed cameras and that the fire sprinklers had regular sprinkler heads. The detective also confirmed that they plan to close this case.”
Either way, Airbnb says they still appreciate how the woman felt…and will offer her support, including a refund.
