American Crime Actor Johnny ortiz faces an actual charge of attempted murder for his alleged role in a drive-by shootout in Los Angeles … TMZ has learned.
We broke history … Ortiz and another man, Armando Miguel Navarro, allegedly tried to kill a man named Brian duke during an incident related to gang violence. While Navarro is the only one accused of pulling the trigger, prosecutors also hit Ortiz with an attempted murder charge … now we know why.
Police sources tell us … witnesses at the scene described the car, which was pulled over about an hour later in Los Angeles with 4 people inside, and Ortiz driving.
We are told that the 4 were taken into custody, but the prosecutor only loaded Ortiz and Navarro … the other 2 were released.
Our sources say prosecutors have video evidence related to the shooting.
Ortiz also starred in “McFarland, USA” with Kevin costner, and with Aaron Paul in “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.” He was arrested at the end of May and remains in jail on $ 1,120,000 bail.
He has pleaded not guilty and his family insist he is innocent and tried to raise his money through crowdfunding for his bail and other legal fees. His next hearing is scheduled for September.
