22 years old Bharti shahani died … making her the 9th victim of Travis ScottAstroworld Festival.
Shahani, who was a senior at Texas A&M University, died Thursday of injuries sustained at the Friday night event in Houston … according to a family lawyer.
As we reported, Shahani had already been declared brain dead, and was on a ventilator. She had been to Astroworld with her sister and cousin, but the two went their separate ways in a crowd surge. Bharti reportedly suffered several heart attacks after the crowd crushed and was rushed to a local hospital.
In a moving press conference Thursday, a representative for Bharti’s family confirmed that she was the woman in a video – obtained by TMZ – which was fell on his head as it was carried out by first responders. The representative says they want justice for Bharti and his family … and for anyone who puts profits before safety to be held accountable.
Bharti marks the latest victim of the tragedy, and it is possible that more will come. As we reported, a 9 year old Ezra Blount is still hospitalized and is fighting for his life. His family, with the help of a civil rights lawyer, Ben crump, sued Travis and Live Nation for the injuries they say were caused when Ezra was stepped on.
Travis has undertook to pay for the funeral expenses of the victims of the spectacle and to provide mental health services to those affected by the events.
A representative for Travis tells us: “Over the past week, Travis Scott and his team have actively explored avenues of connection with each family affected by the tragedy through the appropriate liaisons. He is upset by the situation and desperately wishes to share. his condolences and give them help as soon as possible, but wants to remain respectful of each family’s wishes on how they would like to be connected. “
They continue, “To families who wish to contact their team directly, please send an email to AW21information@gmail.com where we will have a team on hand to assist you.”
