A 6-year-old boy was almost killed when his neighbor allegedly opened fire as the child picked up his bike from the sidewalk – and the man is already out of jail after posting an incredibly low bond.
The incident happened over the weekend in Ypsilanti, Michigan – about 35 miles from Detroit – where the boy, Coby, is fortunate enough to be alive after the neighbor chased him with a sledgehammer, then fired a gun, hitting him in the arm.
The neighbor, Ryan le nguyen, would have been pissed off Coby and a friend had left their bikes in front of the sidewalk of his house. The boy’s father, Arnold daniel, told FOX2 when the boys came back to get the bikes … Le-Nguyen hit Coby with the hammer.
Coby told FOX2, “He tried to hit me with a sledgehammer but it won’t work because I’m too fast. (Then he) got a gun and BOOM shot me in here.”
As you can see from the video… the kids, naturally, panicked and ran away when they heard the gunshot. You can hear Coby cry in pain as another child yells “Coby got shot !!!”
Coby’s father said the bullet went through his son’s arm, but medics told him if it had been an inch in either direction it likely would have killed Coby.
Le-Nguyen, who has reportedly struggled with the family in the past over bicycles, was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder. He posted a $ 10,000 bond on Tuesday … which prompted Coby’s angry father to ask how the bond could be so low after Le-Nguyen allegedly tried to kill his son.
Even prosecutors say they asked for a $ 100,000 bond, but were shocked the judge gave Le-Nguyen a $ 10,000 cash bond. Prosecutors have since filed an urgent petition to quash the bail.
As for Coby … he’s home and luckily expects him to make a full recovery.
