Three men have been charged with the murder of James “Whitey” Bulgerone of America’s most notorious mobsters, nearly 4 years after he was beaten to death in federal prison.
US Attorney’s Office Accused Photo “Freddy” Geas, Paul “Pauly” J. DeCologeroand Sean McKinnon with conspiracy to commit first degree murder on Thursday in connection with Bulger’s 2018 murder at Hazleton U.S. Penitentiary in Bruceton Mills, WV.
Geas and DeCologero are accused of punching Bulger multiple times in the head, causing his death – they were also charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder and assault resulting in grievous bodily harm.
McKinnon faces a separate charge for making false statements to a federal agent.
As we pointed out, Bulger was beaten with a padlock in a sock, away from security cameras, until he lost consciousness – the alleged perpetrators also tried to gouge out his eyes with some sort of knife, but were unsuccessful.
Bulger was serving his life sentence after being convicted in 2013 of a series of crimes when he died aged 89.
